Hailey Brooks Obituary Raleigh NC What Happened To Her?

Publish date: 2024-06-25

The death of 11-year-old Hailey Brooks during this past Saturday’s Raleigh Christmas Parade is a tragic event on two fronts. First and foremost, it is a tragedy for Hailey Brooks and her family.

This young girl lost her life in a senseless act of violence, and her family will never be the same. Second, it is a tragedy for the community of Raleigh.

This incident has shaken the city to its core and highlights the need for better safety measures at public events. In the wake of this tragedy, we must come together as a community to support Hailey’s family and to ensure that something like this never happens again.

It is a heartbreaking loss for her family, friends, and community. Second, it highlights the dangers of parade participants being struck by vehicles.

While the investigation into the accident is ongoing, it appears that the pickup truck driver lost control and accelerated into the dance troupe that Hailey Brooks was a part of.

This type of accident highlights the need for improved safety measures for parade participants, such as barriers between them and the parade route.

No child should die while participating in a parade, and no family should experience such a devastating loss.

Hopefully, Hailey Brooks’ death will not be in vain and will lead to increased safety measures to prevent future tragedies.

Landen Christopher Glass, the 20-year-old driver of the truck that struck and killed 11-year-old Hailey Brooke on Saturday, has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, improper equipment, unsafe movement, carelessness and recklessness, and carrying a firearm in a parade.

As the Raleigh community mourns Brooks’ death, memorials have popped up along Hillsborough Street near Boylan Avenue, where the crash occurred. One memorial reads, “Hailey, dancing in the arms of Jesus!”

This year’s Raleigh Christmas parade will have a sad note, including a memorial for Hailey.

The accident happened when an out-of-control pickup truck pulling a parade float collided with the girl performing with CC & Company Dance Complex.

The group had performed in the parade in previous years and was scheduled to perform again last year, but the float accident led to the cancellation of their performance.

Hailey was taken to the hospital but sadly died from her injuries. This year, a memorial will be held for her outside CC & Company Dance Complex, which is closed this week.

The Driver Was Arrested For Several Charges

Christopher Glass was found to be operating the GMC Denali that would veer out of control on Saturday by WRAL Investigates during the October 30 ticket.

Incorrect exhaust systems and lack of marker lights were among the other infractions. Online records are vague about the type of car Glass was issued these fines for.

After the collision on Saturday, the Raleigh Police Department detained Glass and filed misdemeanor charges against him for driving while intoxicated, being careless and reckless, using incorrect equipment, moving in an unsafe manner, and carrying a gun during a procession.

According to court records, Glass lives with his parents in Goode, Virginia, where WRAL News went on Monday.

WRAL News attempted to contact Glass and his family members from the bottom of the “no trespassing” signs on the property.

A family member informed WRAL News that Glass wouldn’t be issuing a statement. A member of the Glass family indicated the family lawyer would comment later.

The first court date for Christopher Glass is January 26, 2023.

Christopher reportedly told police that he “works on safety systems of autos,” according to the arrest warrant.

According to the search request, Glass has “no inspection, tint violations, incorrect equipment, and speeding” on his record as driving infractions dating back to 2021.

Christopher Glass was featured in Instagram posts from 2018 representing CC & Company Dance Complex in dance contests. As of 2022, it is unknown what role he is connected to the business.
