John Whigham Obituary, Golf Icon And ALS Supporter
John Whigham Obituary, Death Cause – We would like to report with great regret that Lucas and I have lost John C. Whigham, our best supporter and an incredible golfer, to ALS after a valiant struggle. Not only was John a parent, but he also served as a friend and mentor, teaching important life skills on the golf field. My father cultivated a passion of golf in me from a young age. In addition to teaching me the nuances of the game, he stressed the value of sportsmanship and friendship in the golf community. He demonstrated to us, via innumerable golf outings,
that the relationships formed on the fairways and greens were just as important as the scores recorded on the scorecard. John Whigham was well-known for his incredible short game, his fierce competitiveness, and his infectious delight while he was playing golf with loved ones. The people who were fortunate enough to play golf with him will always treasure his legacy. Beyond his skill as a golfer, John demonstrated bravery by supporting others during his ALS struggle. His persistent support of the “Keep Swinging Campaign” served as an inspiration to many and served as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of hardship.
A monument to his legacy, the John C. Whigham Collection will never stop encouraging and helping many others, guaranteeing his influence will live on in the golf industry and beyond. Along with his golfing accomplishments, John C. Whigham will be recognized for his teachings on generosity, perseverance, and teamwork. Forever etched in the memories of those privileged to have known him is his legacy.
